Position Summary:
The Home Equity Underwriter role will be making a difference in our members' lives through their mortgage needs. This is accomplished by providing the highest quality experience for both internal and external members. The underwriter will be responsible for processing Home Equity, HELOC & Unimproved Property Loan applications.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Perform a thorough needs assessment for all lending products for members and prospective members.
Provide consultative sales advice for members. Including consultative advice for members that we are unable to approve for a loan product.
Establishes and maintains a positive relationship by creating an exceptional experience making the member feel valued.
Communicate underwriting decisions with a sales and service mindset.
Loan origination functions: including loans initiated through digital platforms, inbound and outbound calls.
Proactively identifies changes in member's life and banking needs and recommends relevant solutions to enhance the member's financial and life goals.
Maintain and follow up regularly on a pipeline of loans.
Provides timely responses to member and team member requests.
Originate, process, and close home equity products. Closings are processed through coordination with Branch partners for branch in-person closings.
Prepare closing documents and coordinate branch closing for real estate loans.
Maintain up to date knowledge of lending compliance requirements and general knowledge of Home Equity Compliance Regulations.
Proactively find ways to support the Home Equity Team's goals and collaborate with fellow team members.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge and training of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, Reg Z.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Knowledge of Wellby's organizational functions, and general operating policies and procedures.
Knowledge of lending product philosophy and regulations
Knowledge of accounting and loan processing software
Knowledge of secretarial practices and procedures, business English, spelling, and punctuation.
Knowledge of personal computer, utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.
Skilled in operating computer equipment and general office machines such as personal computers, copiers, projection equipment, audio/video, and Microsoft Teams,.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to present ideas and to report facts and technical information.
Ability to resolve questions and problems on responsibilities
Ability to manage personal workflow and meet deadlines and production goals
Ability to work in a team environment and to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
Ability to observe details at close range within a few feet of the observer.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with exceptional customer service skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Team member does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Complexity & Scope of Work
The team member performs a variety of related tasks which are mostly routine but are sensitive in nature.
Non routine situations or conflicts are usually referred to the Manager for resolution.
Instructions to the team member may be general or specific in nature.
Courses of action are determined by established procedures and/or the Consumer Lending Underwriting Manager.
The team member's work is reviewed periodically for accuracy, completion, and compliance with the policies and procedures.
Tasks may occasionally have to be coordinated, integrated, and/or prioritized.

To perform this job successfully, the team member is frequently required to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Daily movements include sitting; standing, reaching, and grasping, operating computers and other office equipment, moving about the office; and attending possible onsite and offsite meetings. The team member must be able to exchange information, in person, in writing, and via telephone. Some degree of stress results from contact with management and other team members.
Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds across the office and load them onto shelves for various needs.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work involves the typical risks and discomforts associated with an office environment but is usually in an area that is adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum (2) to five (5) years of in Home Equity/HELOC lending experience preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
The ability to obtain a Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) within first year of employment.
Exceptionally strong analytical, process and people skills
Proactive individual able to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated skills in organization and strong attention to detail
