The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant, in the laboratory of Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL), to help conduct cellular therapy for cancer. The LDDL is in the CARE/Crawley building on University of Cincinnati’s Medical Campus. We are a team focused on studying etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and cure of hematological malignancies.

Essential Functions

  • Document and organize research results and data according to NIH’s preferred good laboratory management practices (LabArchives).
  • Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on evidence-based literature.
  • Independently work on projects and troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpretation of data and validity of testing.
  • Maintain timely project goals, deadlines, and studies for contributions to publications and grant funding applications.
  • Analyze and communicate results and data analysis from high throughput sequencing platforms.
  • Be involved with molecular biology techniques, including:   Sterile cell culture techniques ,  Tissue culture and related wet lab techniques (i.e. western blotting, functional assays),  Isolation of NK and T-cells from blood ,  Optimize and perform in vitro immune assays ,  Flow cytometry ,  DNA isolation and cloning techniques, including PCR ,  Gene editing of cell lines and primary cells with CRISPR-Cas9 electroporation or viral transduction ,  Some animal handling.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Knowledge of translational research laboratory practices.
  • Experience with specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Suite, LabArchives, GraphPad, Endnote).
